Weekend

What amazing weekend! Started out a bit slowly but took on speed and fun as the hours went by.

Saturday morning, beautiful, sunny, early Autumn day. Up shower, dress and off to catch the M15 bus to Saks 5th Ave... my very favorite place to shop. It is 10 floors of  Luxury..the most beautiful clothes, accessories, jewelry, bedding, shoes, perfume and makeup.

This time I am going to get my makeup done. Kalyd is my man he is a wonderful artist. Channel is the product. We spend a happy hour together. Kalyd doing his magic, while we chat, laugh and generally have a good time. Colors and looks are discussed and at the end I will tell you .....I looked Marvelous! Playing with makeup is fun and to me as well as a spiritual.

Any woman coming to NY should make Saks and a makeup session part of the plan. Just bring a sense of adventure and a credit card. Once you have I promise you will be back.

There are dozens of makeup brands from all over the world. Each have their own areas in this mecca. The perfumes also go on for aisles and there are many choices to be sniffed. There are designer niches for all the well known and some of the newer designers. Salespeople are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The only difficulty you will have is making your choices.

By the time I left I had a very large and very packed shopping bag to carry.
Then off to meet several classmates from years gone by for lunch. Tony Di Nappoli. This restaurant serves family style. In NY that means way too much food!...Its located in the theater district. An easy walk of about 10 blocks. Its a gorgeous day and I enjoy every step. Lunch is so much fun. Its been years since I have seen any of them, but in less than 2 minutes we are deeply involved in real conversations and the hours go by quickly. Lunch is Italian....salad, chicken, pasta and veggies followed by cappuccino. We eat till we are filled. The bill with tip included is $25. The friendship renewing .....priceless.

As lunch ends I get a text from a friend Bloomingdale's is her destination. So after dropping my Saks bag off, we meet and a little more shopping occurs. All I want is an external hard drive for my aging PC. That stop comes right after Bloomies. Bought it is Best Buy. What next?? Food again.

A newish restaurant on 48th and Lexington Ave. Lexington Brass. We meet up with another friend. Had a Sweet Tea Martini. Yummy. Actually had two as did one of my friends. They other has several glasses of wine. Review of that was good. Food report, had a salmon ceviche and a tuna burger. Was ok. Friends had scallops. They liked their more than I did mine. Service? Had to remind the waiter about my first drink. "Oh it is sitting on the bar". Yes, we'll I am not. Nice busboy brought me my drink.Thank you to him. Huge demerit for waiter. Enjoyed the company of my friends and dinner was made better by them.

View as a passenger of a Pedi cab
We had theater tickets across town. No taxi to be found.....till a pedi cab driver came by. We piled into the cab and away we went. This was my very first pedi cab ride. He got us  to the theater exactly on time....Saw a revival of Fade Out Fade In. Enjoyed it immensely. Cost of ticket? $25.

Yawn....yawn.....taxi ride back home.Have made the round trip to the theater district twice today. Enjoyed shopping, walking,  eating, seeing friends, experiencing something for the first time, and a play.

Saturday is over. Time for sleep.
