A typical work day for me starts promptly at 5am when a rock oldies station comes on my radio startling me awake. My usual response is to half jump out of bed and half moan that its that time again. After debating with myself about the option of calling in sick and going back to sleep……
I rise…..
There is also a moment or two to review my latest dream….just moments before it is lost.
Shower, dress, and then that all important huge mug of freshly brewed to my taste coffee…with a handful of vitamins and supplements in lieu of food . Check schedule, email, FB and then out the door. Bus ride or walk depends on the weather and my mood. Either way it takes about 30 minutes to my destination. At this time of year (Autumn) it’s still not really cold, but it is dark out, the dawn will be breaking moments after arriving at the hospital where I’m employed as a Registered Nurse. Its about a 2 block walk and a elevator ride up to the Unit where my day will be spent…well at least the next 11 hours of it.
Just a little about that hospital. Its in the middle of NYC, huge,had a medical school and employs about 18,000 people. Its been my employer for years, I do love it, and what I do most of the time. There will be lots of little stories to tell in the days ahead. All the names will be changed to protect the guilty as well as the innocent.
At 7am promptly…..my work day begins………….Wonder what this day will be like? Me too!
Life both in and out of these buildings is a challenge at the same time rewarding. Many laughs, tears and insightful moments are run through in the course of a single day.
And then of course there are the nights and weekends…….
This blog is therapeutic for me, and hopefully entertaining for you.
